"COMPUTING IS NOT ABOUT COMPUTERS ANY MORE. IT IS ABOUT LIVING."
- Nicholas Negropo

Businesses are using technology to stay competitive, they create new products and services using technology, and they also use technology to deliver those products and services to their customers on time. Businesses want IT to be focused on business results, innovation, and continuous improvement. To embrace a new business strategy and methods today require transformation. If businesses don’t embrace a transformational approach to business, they aren’t likely to be around in the future. IT transformation can be defined as the acceleration of business activities, processes, competencies and models to fully leverage the changes and opportunities of digital technologies and their impact in a strategic and prioritized way. In fact, IT transformation is business transformation.
My idea of IT transformation is to keep the "Basics" updated and upgraded with their evolution. Here the basics of IT means "the solutions" (hardware infrastructure & software applications) which are backbone of businesses. It is not easy for all organizations to keep up with these "basics" themselves considering the changes and growth they are facing these days. And the hardware infrastructure part is most critical as it has never been the front end for end users. Though end user computing has been part of organizational make over, the back end computing infrastructure on which the complete organization applications rely are yet to go through such new adaption.

Technology is a body of knowledge devoted to creating tools, processing actions and extracting of materials. The term ‘Technology” is wide and everyone has their own way of understanding the meaning of technology. We use technology to accomplish various tasks in our daily lives. Technology is an application of science to solve a problem. We apply technology in almost everything we do in our lives, we use technology at work, we use it to, extract materials , we use technology for communication, transportation, learning, manufacturing, creating artifacts, securing data, scaling businesses and so much more. The application of technology results in artifacts or products.
In my Techno-commercial role, I help organizations to target that unorganized, non highlighted infrastructure component known as "Data Center Infrastructure" to come up with a business driven, financially suitable and future focused transformation road map. This include:
-
Understanding the Business Objective and analyze/document the requirements, inventory analysis & validation (due diligence), map business requirements, evaluate the pain areas and perform the gap analysis
-
Providing customized Data Center Transformation Solutions considering Consolidation, Virtualization, Migration, Hosting, Disaster recovery and Cloud (IaaS). All these transformation solutions include Compute (Server), Storage and Backup components
-
Business case development considering technical and commercial viability of the solution
-
Preparing Bill of Material in discussion with different hardware and software vendors (OEMs)
-
Creating Solution documentation, presentations, solution defense, handover to delivery
Apart from these I also cover some other roles to keep the myself up to date with the change in industry:
-
Partner Management – Working with partners to create ‘Go-To-Market’ strategy. Work with partners and vendors to create tailor made offerings for client specific needs.
-
Vendor/Technology Evaluation - Continuous evaluation of new technologies and products in the market that can assist in the Data Center Transformation space
-
New Proposition Development – To develop Propositions with market leading vendors across various technologies in Data Center Services. Pitching the products to the customers across the globe
